Praying for the Next Great Awakening 2023

The conflicted world we live in is in desperate need of a move of God that would not only bring revival, but the outbreak of many revivals that would tip into a Great Awakening and spread throughout the nations.

Personal revival not only deepens the faith of believers, but the empowering work of the Holy Spirit will help bring new people into the Kingdom of God, allowing their hearts to be transformed by the Holy Spirit. It is marked by personal holiness, a love for the Word of God, humility, faithful prayer, and empowered witness.

R.A. Torrey wrote

“Great revivals always begin first in the hearts of a few men and women whom God arouses by His Spirit to believe in Him as a living God, as a God who answers prayer, upon whose heart He lays a burden from which no rest can be found except in importunate crying unto God.”

If you have a burden to join us in prayer for the Next Great Awakening, come and join us for a 5-day prayer gathering at PRMI’s Community of the Cross

R.A. Torrey has described essentials that God has historically used to ignite great outpourings of the Holy Spirit.

  1. Bringing all people to faith in Jesus Christ or recommitment to Jesus Christ so they may be born again into the Kingdom of God. (Acts 2:46-47, 4:12)
  2. The Baptism with the Holy Spirit in which Christians are empowered and anointed to be witnesses to Jesus Christ. (Acts 1:4-8)
  3. The work of earnest intercession for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit through which God the Father will manifest His presence on earth. (Acts 2, 4:23- 31)

Each day, we will pray and use the three R.A. Torrey Essentials for Revival as our outline.

Pre-Work

When you say “yes!” to the Lord’s call to take part in this prayer event, we ask you to prepare by watching a series of online videos.

These videos will bring you into the specific guidance of:

  1. PRMI’s role for preparing for and igniting outpourings of the Holy Spirit and

Explanation Of Online Registration Fee.

PRMI has found that when online events have zero registration fees, there is a high no-show rate. Automated bots fill out forms creating spam registrations from around the world.

As some of our multi-day events require materials, prayer coverage, and small group planning, a small online registration fee will help PRMI manage the resources to support the meeting and keep unnecessary registrations from clogging the system.

As is true of all PRMI events and consistent with the Faith Basis, this fee is not the event offering. All of our events are offered on a faith basis. You’ll have the opportunity to advance the work of PRMI through your offering.

Offering

All events organized by PRMI are offering-based. During your event, you'll be invited to share in the vision of PRMI and give an offering towards the ministry to advance our mission of equipping people to cooperate with the Holy Spirit.

Plan to Be Fully Present

Each segment of our events leads into the next. Thus we encourage you to be fully present for the entire event, as much as you are able.

Rev. Dr. Brad Long

Rev. Dr.
Brad Long Executive Director, PRMI In 1988 while a missionary in Taiwan, Dr. Brad Long received a call “to an international ministry of renewal, advancing the gospel of Jesus Christ worldwide.” Since that time, he has been called to a number of nations where his role has been primarily equipping pastors and lay people in the gifts and power of the Holy Spirit. Rev. Brad Long was called as Executive Director of PRMI in 1990.

Rev. Doug McMurry

Douglas McMurry 2018
Rev. Doug McMurry has been a Presbyterian pastor since 1982. Baptized in the Holy Spirit in 1972, he remembers well the Presbyterian Charismatic Communion that gave birth to PRMI in the 1980’s.  He remembers, too, the first few years of Brad Long’s tenure as Executive Director beginning in 1990 when Brad and Doug initiated work on The Dunamis Project.

The hope was to move beyond holding inspirational celebrations for large groups of charismatics, to teaching and training Reformed people how to walk in the power of the Spirit--discipling people in “how to do it.”
